Jan 4th 2022
Tattoo artists and tattoo aficionados who use Instagram may be familiar with the work of Italian tattoo artist Noa Yanni. With over 68k followers, her content makes thousands of impressions among tattoo artists and aficionados alike. While many people know her for her work in black and gray realism tattoos, Noa Yanni is also a classically trained sculptor. But, what makes Yanni such a unique and sought-after artist?
Noa Yanni grew up in Montecatini Terme, Tuscany as part of a family where “ ART HAS ALWAYS BEEN AT THE CENTER OF EVERYTHING " . From a young age, Yanni was immersed in art. One of the major artistic influences in her life has always been her mother, a contemporary sculptor. Because art had always been such an important part of her life, she decided to pursue a career in fine arts. She first attended the Lucca Art Institute and then continued on to the Academy of Fine Arts in Firenze where she graduated in 2010. She is the national award-winning sculptor of the two-ton marble “Tempo,” which can be seen at the Aeroporto internazionale Leonardo da Vinci in Rome, Italy.

Noa Yanni’s Early Tattoo Career
Noa Yanni stumbled upon tattooing while still in art school in 2005 when a tattoo artist friend offered to teach her the art form. She practiced for just one year before opening her first tattoo studio. For the first six years after opening her studio, she focused on obtaining skills in as many styles as possible. She practiced styles from Japanese to Maori and everything in between. She even traveled abroad to learn as much as she could. However, it wasn’t until 2011 when she was living in New York that she found her true artistic identity in the realism style that she has become known for.
Where is Noa Yanni Now?
Yanni splits her time between the three NOA INK TATTOO AND PIERCING studios in Terme, Pietrasanta, and Lucca. She can also be found participating in tattoo conventions around the world. Yanni occasionally collaborates with tattoo artists throughout Europe, including many in Italy, France, Germany, and Switzerland. When she is asked about her skills and her art, she says, “The idea of being able to bring such a complex style to the skin fascinates and stimulates me, I try to improve day after day, combining sacrifice with passion.”
